Its surprising that there are no comments in 4 yrs. Perhaps we need a bit more insight into Bricabox, what was tried, what went well, and what could be better in context/environment and what could be better in efforts or strategy/ thinking for other entrepreneurs to learn.

Great post. I do know, however, that as soon as a person in the know says things like "always" -- as in " Apple's hardware will always have the edge in a hardware world that has edges" (great line, incidentally) I know the gig is up. I will mark this date as the one where I realized that some new maker (perhaps out of "nowhere") will come along to out-design Apple.

So true about your mind loading up like RAM when working on a hard problem. Its difficult but very rewarding when you break through with something.

I've gone through the opposite, going from engineering to sales/business development in the last year. Your description of your new duties and responsibilities as an engineer is a very astute one, and a position that I don't forget now that my skills requirements have become more "soft" than hard. I'd guess my transition path is a bit more common than yours, but I'm glad to see you making such a big change. New challenges are always the best ones!

Very cool. Despite all the activity in the photo space, I feel like you guys are hitting on a real unmet need. For my particular use case (young parent with tons of kid photos to keep and share w/ family and friends), I still don't have something that does that right.

A few bits of minor feedback:

- it took me a long time to figure out how to connect facebook etc. I feel like this should be way more front and center (esp because I don't have a lot of photos on my actual computer). this seemed like it would be the obvious "step 2" to prompt me towards, but I had to hunt for it myself, and ultimately found it hidden in the settings.

- the web app is still prompting me to download the mac app, even after I downloaded it.

Anyway, congrats!

please offer a free trial month, i think it's way better than the 5gb limit. everpix did and so far i stayed with them. i just signed up but want to upload my whole library and see how it get's handled. thanks :)

Agree. It's amazing the creativity and opportunity that comes out when you give yourself the freedom to just step back, reflect, re-asses, and relax for a bit.

The slate is clean, the obligations and the worry are gone, the debate has ended...and all that lies ahead of you is new opportunity!

NIcely stated. I'd add that the reason the "math" in the Obama GOTV was a good was because it was in service to people talking to people. The Obama campaign used technology and organization to help neighbors talk with neighbors -- a far more civilized way to "message" than robo-calls and attack ads.
